Something New

I went into our local Walmart the other day and was shocked to see school supplies. Not the normal school supplies- the BACK TO SCHOOL supplies and it was only the end of June! Anyway, I just HAD to turn down the aisle to take a look. My daughter was giving me the look and my eyes began to glaze over...I love the smell of a new box of crayons! They smell extra good when they are only $0.20 Okay, okay. The something new I came across was a "Double Notebook". It's pretty neat. I looked for pictures on the web and couldn't find any. Bummer, considering I wanted to share with other mom's that use notebooking and lapbooking to teach their children. To my surprise, my husband got me one tonight! After I showed it to my children, the first thing I did was to take pictures of it! Now I can finally share!

Any ideas of how it can be used?

It costs about $5 and is supposedly only found at Walmart according to the cover.
Right now, we are in a chapter covering early American history and for Bible, we are studying the book of Joshua. I think we will put or history stuff on one side and our Bible lessons on the other. Or I could do Bible and History on one side and lapbooks on the other. Or Bible and history on side one and on side two we could put our timelines, copy work and lapbooks. Or....

  1. It is an interesting notebook! I like your idea for how to use it. It has lots of possibilities, doesn't it? Can't wait to see what you finally end up doing with it.

  3. I think it would drive me buggy, flipping up and over back and forth. But it looked like a neat idea. If you have 2 kids or something...

  4. I think it is very neat. I love school supplies too. I simply enjoy when they put everything out for back to school.

Missy, I am just now back on HSB. I had deleted my blog and actually missed it. So I am back and changed it. Please go by and check it out. Glad to see you are still here too and doing well.

    Be blessed,

I saw your post on the Weaver list and had to check this out! I think it might drive me nuts but I think I might give it a try as my Mom's NB w/Weaver stuff on one side and my personal daily planner type stuff on the other side. The kids this year got 24 pocket pendaflex file type things so we will see how that works :)

  8. Hi, I'm not a member here, but I came across your neat find. I just wanted to say thay I would add some kind of strap with velcro or something to keep the thing from opening when your switching to the other side. I think that made sense.

  9. Actually, to whoever posted the above message, it stays closed pretty well without any velcro or anything- besides, there no place to put it anyway. I think if it would be hard to keep it closed, the makers would have made something for that purpose.

  10. This is just what I need!!! We will be doing U.S History in the fall and I wanted to do African American History also. Now we can keep all the notes together as we merge the subjects. Was this the only color they came in?

  11. I like the History/Timeline idea. How about Greek roots/Latin roots?

  12. I went to my local WalMart and they didn't have them. I even went online (walmart.com) and couldn't find them. I am planning on using them for history/timeline and U.S. Geography/World Geography. I guess I will keep checking at my local Walmarts (Yes, we have two in my city--not sure why).

  14. This is really neat! I got the Back To School Wal-Mart flyer in the mail today. I could visualize my cart with new crayons, construction paper, glue sticks, pencils, all those crafty little boxes to store the children things in, and so much more. Then I looked into my pocket book and realized I had to wait for pay day. Thank God the sale does not start until the 13th:-) Woo Hoo. Okay, so I'll only get what we need.....and maybe this neat folder. We could really use it. We do both lapbooking and notebooking:-) So maybe we need it after all. Thanks for sharing. Be blessed,

    Stacy
